Meet our Senior Management
Brad Joyce
BCom, MAICD, FCPA
Brad Joyce has been the CEO of Teachers Health Fund since May 2006. He brings with him extensive strategic, management and commercial experience working across a number of industry sectors including over 10 years in health insurance and health care. Brad is also a director of HAMBS Ltd – an IT solutions provider to the health insurance industry, and a director of the Australian Health Services Alliance Ltd – a hospital and medical contracting company in the health insurance industry. He is also a director of Private Healthcare Australia Ltd and an executive member of HIRMAA- both industry associations active in the private health insurance industry.
Brad’s role is to execute the vision and strategic direction of the organisation and provide overall leadership and management of the business.
David Lethbridge
LLB (Otago, NZ), Grad Dip ACG, FCIS, GAICD
David has held senior management positions in New Zealand, Australia and the UK. Prior to joining Teachers Health Fund, David was the Company Secretary for the ASX listed company, Hills Holdings Limited and before that, the company secretary for NIB Holdings Limited and Board Secretary and Legal Counsel for the New Zealand Apple and Pear Marketing Board.
David’s role at Teachers Health Fund is to develop and oversee the execution of Teachers Health Fund’s annual business plan and the various strategic initiatives that support the business plan. David is also responsible for legal, compliance and risk management.
Ramy Bakhos
Executive Manager, Health Insurance
B.Comm (Mgmt)
Ramy Bakhos joined Teachers Health Fund in 2009. Ramy has worked in the Private Health Insurance industry for over 10 years encompassing roles with multiple health funds as well as the industry regulator PHIO (Private Health Insurance Ombudsman). He also has a strong background in project management, customer service and sales.
Ramy’s focus is to provide an exceptional customer service experience for all members of Teachers Health Fund through interactions with knowledgeable, efficient and friendly staff.
Gerald Chan
Executive Manager, Health Services
Dip Mgt & Leadership, Advanced Certificate of Optical Dispensing, Diploma of Engineering
Gerald Chan joined Teachers Health Fund in 2000. He has extensive experience as an Optical Dispenser and Store Manager within our Teachers Eyecare centres. Currently Gerald manages four of our Teachers Eyecare centres and four Teachers Dental centres located within NSW and Victoria.
Gerald is highly focused on providing value to Teachers Health Fund members by providing them with the best customer service experience, high quality products and integrated services.
Nicola Farrell
Executive Manager, Membership Services
Nicola Farrell joined Teachers Health Fund in 2007. She has over 20 years experience in Health and Insurance related industries both national and international. Nicola has occupied a number of roles including Manager of Member Contact and Care and Senior Business Analyst.
Nicola’s role is to manage and lead the Membership Services team in the provision of proactive and outstanding customer service.
Joseph Phung
Executive Manager, Finance and Business Intelligence
CPA, M.Comm, B.Comm, LLB
Joseph Phung joined Teachers Health Fund in 2007. He has over 10 years experience in the health insurance industry in statistical, business analysis and financial roles.
Joseph’s key role at Teachers Health Fund is to function as an internal consultant to the business and to assist in the provision of information to management and the Board of Directors for strategic decision making.
Mark Sinclair
Executive Manager, People & Learning
M.Ad.Ed., BBus (HRM), Grad Dip Employment Services
Mark Sinclair joined Teachers Health Fund in 2006. He has over 20 years experience in Human Resource functions across a range of small and large multinational companies. He also has experience across a range of industries including manufacturing, retail, general and life insurance and government enterprises.
Mark focuses on providing effective, timely and relevant Human Resources expertise and advice to meet the needs of Teachers Health Fund and its internal customers.
Tomi Strugar
Chief Information Officer
Tomi Strugar joined Teachers Health Fund in 2011. Tomi has extensive experience in the Information Technology sector having previously worked for one of the world’s largest conservation organisations, WWF, in Australia and the Netherlands. During this experience he led the development of technologies to manage WWF’s global Earth Hour campaign. He has also worked as an Enterprise Resource Planning Consultant and Technical Manager.
Tomi is responsible for delivering reliable, high quality technology services and leading all elements of IT investment and operation in order to maximise the effective use of information services in the business.
